10k: Bumblebee: 1973 Datsun 240Z

The Datsun 240Z is an iconic Japanese sports car that needs no introduction, but we will say that nicer examples have appreciated in price and most found for cheap are total garbage.  This feature bucks those trends; it is a good original condition, low mile survivor and offered at a fair price.  Find this 1973 Datsun 240Z for sale in Escondido, CA for $11,900 via craigslist.  Tip from Bill H.

This 240Z looks in great shape and is claimed to have an actual 54k miles on the odometer and one owner for almost 40 years.  It is hard to tell if this is being sold by that one owner, or someone else who has recently purchased it, put some time/money/labor into it and is now selling.  Either way, the price is fair for one of the few Japanese sports cars from the early ’70s.

The 240Z is powered by a 2.4 liter inline six that puts out 151 horsepower and 146 ft-lbs of torque, a decent amount of power for the 2400 lb chassis.  Simple and communicative steering keeps things lively out front and the proximity of the rear tire to the seat of your pants gives an interesting sensation while driving spiritedly.

This yellow Z won’t be the cheapest one you can find and certainly not the fastest, but it is minty clean and looks ready for a new home.  Does your garage have the space?
