Water Cooled P-Car: 1983 Porsche 944

The Porsche 944 (1982-1991) was a fun chapter in the watercooled front engine Porsche sport coupe saga that started in the late 1970s with the 928. The 944 is a beefed up replacement for the 924, and actually one of the better cars of the 924/944/968 extended family to pick up from a cost/drivability/fun perspective because they have been (mostly) shunned by the hipsters over at Lufthgek…Lufget…Looofgeekcult….Luftwafflehouse…Luftgekühlt…because of the lack of luft in the gekuhlt. Find this 1983 Porsche 944 offered for $7,000 in Winnemucca, NV via craigslist.

If I was in the greater Winnemucca area and interested in a 944 this would definitely be on my list.
I’ve lived in the greater Winnemucca area. Surprisingly decent town by rural Nevada standards.
I don’t doubt you. I was just kinda surprised to see a 944 there for some reason. Nice looking car, you should go check it out! 😉
Die yuppie Scum and the spikes puts it over the top for me also black car with no AC in Nevada, no wonder the steering wheel is suede wrapped.
Suede to soak up the sweat?
So what do we think of this car? Looks like a lot of fun for the money. Or is it quicksand? No engine pics…
I don’t think the number of rear-drive transaxle equipped German sports cars on the road is doing ANYTHING other than going down each day, so I think this is a buy.
I think it’s basically down to whether the number of VW bugs are rusting away faster that they can be replaced by 911s
You are probably right.

noun
A person named Vince who encourages negative or self-destructive behavior in another by recommending the purchase of a naturally aspirated, water-cooled, 40-year-old, $7000 Porsche because supplies are limited and time marches on and you’re not getting any younger and we’re all going to die someday and you don’t have time to think about it, so act now.
My dad had this EXACT car when I was in high-school. He sold it as soon as I got my license… and probably for the best.
