The Luce is Loose: 1976 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

The LA2/LA3 generation of Mazda Luce was sold as the RX-4 in the United States from 1972 through 1977…and it makes an interesting proposition for the vintage car enthusiast. Is it fast? No. Will it handle well…not really. Is it reliable…not unless you consider 50k miles per apex seal as reliable. But does it look rad? YES. Will you learn a lot about Mazdas and the rotary engine while getting from point A to point B and sometimes point C? Yes. Go buy yourself an old rotary. Find this 1976 Mazda RX-4 Wagon offered for an undisclosed amount of cash in Santa Clara, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1976 RX4 five speed wagon.
We bought this wagon from the original owners in 2012.
Low miles and unmolested I put a ported and polished 13B in her with 3b front and rear plates, y housing intermediate and NOS rotor housings. To fuel it I started with a cosmo reverse intake intake manifold port matched it and rebuilt / upgraded the carburetor. Electronic ignition from a 84/5 RX7 was installed.
The original heavy case five speed was outfitted with new hydraulics and the brake hydraulics were all replaced. The final touch was the 74-78 RX3SP and RX4 sport coupe alloys with new rubber.
The only mod done is limo tint windows.
