Thanksgiving Road Trip: 1972 Lincoln Continental Sedan

By DT Writer Maxwell Murray, Oct 20, 2025: This fifth-generation Lincoln Continental is the kind of car that makes modern luxury sedans look like disposable appliances. Finished in rich 70s brown-on-brown splendor, this one-owner survivor has just 27,900 miles and still carries that unmistakable aura of Nixon-era executive confidence and leaded-gas authority. Under the endless hood is a 460-cubic-inch V8, big enough to power a small tugboat, mated to a three-speed automatic that shifts like warm butter. Find this 1972 Lincoln Continental Sedan offered for $10,000 in Lagrangeville, NY via facetinental contibook. Tip from Cory.

Seller’s description
1972 Lincoln Continental 4 door sedan: 460 V8, 27,900 original miles, one owner since new, last registered in 1991, runs and drives, original paint and interior, a time capsule, garage kept since new, no winters, maintained regularly – mechanic owned, silicone brakefluid for storage, some paint bubbling from sitting but otherwise a straight and honest survivor. Private collection vehicle – NOT a dealer. $10,000 has been stored in a heated garage. It’s entire life. Never driven in. The winter button has been sitting on a concrete floor that does sweat with the humidity, which is why we leave the bubbling was caused.

Did he polyglycoat the engine? I don’t they even came out of the factory that clean.
What is that 46-fluid-ounce can, painted black, perched on the driver’s fender, doing there?
I see identical cans in a few other 1972 Lincoln Continental sedans but most don’t have them.
Oh, it seems to be the vacuum reservoir for the cruise control.
