Super Vee Ate: 1974 Volkswagen Beetle Type 1

This next feature is a Super Beetle has been completely reimagined by someone with equal parts skill, courage, and disregard for convention. Under the hood sits a 283 Chevy V8 mated to a TH350 automatic, with a front frame from a Mazda pickup and a homemade rear to keep it all together. It’s less a restoration and more an act of automotive defiance—an unholy alliance of Detroit muscle and German minimalism. The result is a machine that looks like it should buzz, but instead barks, ready to turn every short drive into a sensory overload of noise, vibration, and absolute mechanical insanity. Paint it all one color and install some stock VW tail lights. You could have a nice little sleeper.
My 1967 Nova SS had a 283, two barrel, 4 sp. Hauled ass!
Before anyone says anything about a 2 bbl, Herbie Hancock’s one owner 1963 Cobra has a 2bbl 260V8 pushing all of what, 164HP if I remember right. And still took Miles Davis’ Maserati in a street race.
