Star Wars Air Cleaner: 1967 Buick Riviera GS

This next car came with a description by the seller of a “Star Wars air cleaner” and I had to take a look and see just what that could be. And yes…it does look like a part from a land speeder or the Millennium Falcon has been repurposed to allow this 430 cubic inch V8 to breathe properly. Find this 1967 Buick Riviera GS bidding for $17,700 with a few days to go in Buckhead, GA via eBay.

From the seller:
Purchased this beautiful specimen about a decade ago. I might have put 500 miles on it since. Stays in a warm dry garage with a cover. On occasion will see the light of day. When out and about she gathers a crowd. When asked to show the engine. I lift the Hood and get an astounding “WOW ! Most have never seen a “Star Wars” air cleaner. Which is quite impressive and unique all to Itself. This “RIV” is quite impressive in real time. Looks like you stepped back in to 1967. Beautiful example of vintage Americana.

Mama pajama 430 cubes is 7 whole liters! This body design isn’t my cup of tea but this example is minty fresh.
I tend to not be ga-ga over 60s -70s american iron. That said, the delicate steering wheel on this is a thing of beauty in that interior. i would certainly jump at the chance to drive it cross country/deliver to its new owner. Looks designed for romping along the Eisenhower Interstate system in American infinite-horizon-optimism mode, with a subtle touch of menace.
+1 on the sweet steering wheel, plus check out the speedo. Can’t recall the last time I had seen that…..
