What has….a diesel engine, manual gearbox, UNIMOG off-road chassis, and seating for 22 people? If you said “my dream vehicle,” then this next feature might just make your day. But for the rest of us who don’t have storage for a giant vehicle that leaks as much oil as it burns, this is mostly a curiosity. Find this 1972 Mercedes-Benz O309D Omnibus offered for $12,000 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.

Up for sale – a rare & unique Mercedes-Benz 1972 O309D. This mechanically sound gem is a retired San Diego Airport shuttle bus with an empty cabin that’s ready for renovating. With a manual trans, OM314 Diesel engine, & a Unimog chassis, toughness is guaranteed. Rust work needed on exterior patches. Current ‘22 tags, vehicle manual, & title in hand. Unfortunately, I’m deciding to sell to someone who obtains the proper skills that can really give this awesome machine the attention it deserves.
