Simple Times: 2000 BMW 323i E46 Wagon

BMW built their fast M3 version of the E46 3-series (1998-2006) in only two-door form…so you couldn’t get an M3 wagon. But you could get to an M3 with 5 doors with a basic 2.5 liter powered 323i/325i with a manual gearbox, so that’s gotta be worth something. Find this 2000 BMW 323i Wagon offered for $12,500 in Emeryville, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

The lowest mileage manual transmission E46 wagon currently for sale in the country.
Beautiful example. The engine and transmission operate like new and have been well maintained over the years of ownership. Recent maintenance includes water pump and coolant hoses, upper and lower control arm assembly and bushings, valve cover gasket, intake boots, slave cylinder, brake flush, and coil packs. Oil is good until 90k miles. Brand new tires have been mounted for the sale of the vehicle along with a new alignment. All interior pieces look and feel brand new within the all black interior. The exterior of the car is free of damage or age and has been protected with a ceramic coating for the past two years.

Exterior 9.5/10
Very minor blemishes.
Interior 9/10
Needs front door speaker covers replaced (in hand), black front door panels attached around speaker covers, and headliner fabric needs to be fixed in front (recommend replacement – $500 expense and I have someone to refer you to).
Mechanically 9.5/10
Needs brake pads & sensors installed (in hand), the drivers side power mirror control module needs to be swapped out, and it has a brake lamp bulb out on the dash.

$12,500 / obo
I can address all the minor issues listed above and increase the price but I would much rather just sell it discounted to the buyer and let him or her handle it themselves.

Are those stripes on the carpet? Or vacuum marks done like baseball outfields? I so want to buy my next used car from someone that vacuums their car like a the groundskeepers at big league stadiums. Could there be a better sign of meticulous care?
Whenever I see that in a used car advert I assume it is being sold by a used car dealer or someone who works (or worked) at one.
Ah. So not a positive. Maybe even a negative. Good to know.
Maybe it’s a requirement for selling BMW wagons that the carpet look like well groomed stadium grass?

And oh yeah, a manual shift – inline six – rear wheel drive – wagon? Sign me up. Oh wait, I live on the Maine coast with snow and ice for 6 months. Maybe I could buy a good used truck for winter driving? Oh wait, used truck prices are absolutely stupid right now. Oh well.
So just dont get an AWD E 46 wagon 🙂
I have the 2001 E46 325 wagon with a 5 speed……white with tan interior. Glad to see the ask ! They are somewhat unicorn-ish.
Watch the number 5 cylinder on these ( ask me how I know). Apparently the oil return line passes over the cylinder head at number 5 and they can burn a hole in the exhaust valve. Valve job!
Mine has more miles about twice as much so this one hasnt hit the number where mine needed the valve job.
With everything he says it needs I’m surprised at the ask. Mighty strong! 🙂
One more thing from Mr Know It All…..Slicktop?? Who orders an E46 5 speed without the sunroof? Really strong ask!
Presumably somebody who needs a ton of headroom.
