See Me Rollin: 1967 Volvo 1800S

With all the drum beating we do for Volvo 1800/1800S/1800ES we do around here, you’d think we were some kind of vintage Volvo nuts. CFlo, admittedly is a certified card carrying Volvo fanboy, but I have never owned one of these coupes from the land of Thor, but here’s the thing…I think they occupy a space in the vintage ’60s coupe world that is equal parts aesthetic beauty, proven durability, parts availability, happy face, and reasonable price that is almost unmatched in the marketplace. Prove me wrong in the comments. Find this 1967 Volvo 1800S offered for $7000 in Bridgeview, IL via ebay.

Anytime I see an add that says “I have too many cars and need to sell this one.” I want to see some of the other cars, it helps me decide if they know what they are doing or just buy random stuff. I also like to make offers on random cars next to the one being sold 🙂
$7k should be a steal for this. They all have rust in the rocker seams where the rocker meets the front & rear quarter panels – and the front quarter panels & nose are all one welded assembly that doesn’t come apart without a smoke wrench or a 4.5″ angle grinder. Don’t let that dissuade anyone from 1800 ownership though – tis a sweet car with an industrial grade drivetrain that will survive for centuries.
Not going to go for anywhere near that amount.
I dont see an O/D switch. High revver ingine at speed kind of annoys me. Gotta have O/D. I passed on a ’73 ES O/D that had a steel sunroof (!). Seller wanted $3,000.00 and I was too cheap. Dummy! Ofcourse that was in the nineties which is now a long time ago. Still.the sting of supidity never abates.
You cannot be proven wrong because what you say is undeniably, irredeemably true. These are absurdly under appreciated and the market will, eventually, rectify its mistake. Even at this price point, at this point in time, I’m wondering what lurks beneath for her new owner to find and fiddle with.
