S-EL Camino: 1983 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL Truck

Here at DailyTurismo, we’ve long celebrated the noble art of El Caminoization—that strange, wonderful impulse that compels humans to turn sedans, coupes, and sometimes total nonsense into pickup trucks. We’ve featured everything from Mustang-based utes to Toyota Van haulers, but this one might just take the strudel: a Mercedes-Benz 500SEL converted by none other than SGS Styling Garage of Hamburg into a luxury pickup for founder Chris Hahn himself. Underneath its Lapis Blue tuxedo lies proper German TÜV-certified coachwork, a Euro-spec M117 5.0-liter V8, and an aluminum diamond-plate bed ready for either toolboxes or Dom Pérignon. With Brobet Type A wheels and a stance that says “I deliver only the finest bratwursts,” this might be the ultimate combination of executive express and hardware store hero. If the phrase “SEL Camino” doesn’t stir something deep within you, then maybe you need some time in the El Camino re-education camp. Find this 1983 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL Camino offered for $39,000 in Ft Lauderdale, FL via ebay motors. Tip from Rock On!
