Rusty Project: 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7
The first generation Mercury Cougar was a bit more than just an up-market Mustang coupe. It offered a few unique accouterments that were not available on the Mustang, such as pop-up hidden headlights, AND it was only available with proper American V8 power. Today’s Cougar is project — it has a decent amount of rust and the brakes are iffy…but the seller says it runs well and the price is low. Decent Cougar Project car. Runs strong with no smoke, knocks, or ticking. I believe it has a performance cam based on the way the engine runs. New Jersey car. These cars are getting harder to find and going up in price. torque boxes and trunk appear to be solid. Will need to bleed brakes and most likely replace the master cylinder. Currently I dont have the time to devote to this car.

Take the TR4A but they all look wasted….especially the poor Cougar. I had a ’69 Cougar second gen convertible back in the olden days……..embarrassed to admit it had a slushbox too…..but the top going down made up for it. It was only six or seven years old and I sold it for 700 large. Man things have gone down hill/
