Rusty Project: 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7

The first generation Mercury Cougar was a bit more than just an up-market Mustang coupe. It offered a few unique accouterments that were not available on the Mustang, such as pop-up hidden headlights, AND it was only available with proper American V8 power. Today’s Cougar is project — it has a decent amount of rust and the brakes are iffy…but the seller says it runs well and the price is low. Find this 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 offered for $5,900 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Auburn, NY via ebay motors.

From the seller:

Decent Cougar Project car. Runs strong with no smoke, knocks, or ticking. I believe it has a performance cam based on the way the engine runs. New Jersey car. These cars are getting harder to find and going up in price. torque boxes and trunk appear to be solid. Will need to bleed brakes and most likely replace the master cylinder. Currently I dont have the time to devote to this car.
