Pregnant Hippo: 1948 Packard Super Eight

This next car is a smoking deal if you are looking at it from a dollars per pound perspective. The Packard Super Eight was a giant beast of a car that received a modern facelift to post war integrated headlight styling in 1948. It would have sold for something under $3000 in when new ($38k when adjusted for inflation to 2023 money) and power came from a 384 cubic inch straight-8. Today’s Super Eight may or may not have a V8 engine from another vehicle, but it looks menacing and not bad for the price. Find this 1948 Packard Super Eight offered for $12000 in Los Angeles, CA via grillface wheelketplace.

Gee, if it were only two feet longer it would be a candidate for a chassis swap with a f150 lightning.
Funny, it looks large.
Really it would be nice to have a engine room photo, maybe the V8 is a slip of the keyboard.
In the ad there is a video where you can hear the engine for 1 second. Sounds like a V8 and an automatic instead of the straight 8 and 3 speed.
After listening to that, an EV conversion seems like an even better idea.
