Northstarry Night: 1998 Cadillac DeVille
This next car comes as a tip from Rock On who writes that it could be the “perfect winter beater!” Frankly, I find that suggestion to be insulting to such a low mile incredible piece of 90s GM engineering. This car belongs in a museum or in a collector’s garage. MMmkay, I just looked at some blue book values and the DeVille (even in this condition) is worth only a few dollars more than a shipping container filled with toilet paper…actually it could be less given the current price of shipping containers…but I digress. Use this car as a beater, a 24 Hrs of LeMons racer, or a weekend cruiser, you buy it, you do what you want. Find this 1998 Cadillac DeVille offered for $6900 in Fullerton, CA via craigslist.

We are selling our 1998 Cadillac Deville black on black with 57k original miles. It was driven sparingly (as made evident by the low mileage) and has never seen abuse of any kind. It has been kept current on maintenance since day one and all of the power features are in perfect working condition.
It has always had full-synthetic oil changes, specifically Mobil 1 10W-30 which is what the manufacturer recommends. It also has the factory upgraded premium wheels mounted to Michelin tires for better ride comfort.
This model came standard with Heated Seats, Dual-Zone Climate Controls as well as two separate driver memory profiles that each allow for the following personalized adjustments at the press of a button;
Like most things, cars are an investment so its important to take proper care of them and I hope that the pictures demonstrate just that.
I feel that Craigslist has a bad habit of misrepresenting the condition of things (cars, specifically) so I did my best to take pictures that best reflect the actual condition of the car without any superfluity.It has a clean title and has never been repainted or in any accidents.
It has never so much as had a flat tire.

I don’t know what the value of these is, but I’m not hating this one. Bet it’s a sweet ride.
There are good reasons why these things don’t fetch more $ used. The first one is the fact that the damn thing is front wheel drive. On a Cadillac. AYFKM.
The second is the stupid Northstar engine. These engines were trouble spots from the get-go, but GM could not make themselves write off the huge development cost for their own failed version of the Audi V8, so they kept stabbing these things into high end autos that suffered weak sales numbers because consumers are not as stupid as GM thought they were. No wonder those boneheads went bankrupt. The most bankruptcy-proof company of the 20th century, and they still drove it into the river.
This one looks priced right, and with the low mileage and obvious care, the engine might behave itself for a few years, making this a decent bet for some easy miles on the cheap.
