DAF stands for Van Doorne’s Automobiel Fabriek, a Dutch company better known for trucks, but it also built small passenger cars in the Netherlands. The DAF 600 was introduced in the late 1950s and is historically important because it used DAF’s famous Variomatic transmission. One of the weird DAF party tricks was that early Variomatic cars could theoretically go about as fast in reverse as they could forward, because the transmission did not care much which direction the driveline was turning. 1960 DAF, made in Holland. Very rare and complete. The car does run but has no brakes. Automatic and belt driven trans. I do have some extra parts and parts can still be bought for this car. Thus car was in New York auto show in 1960 and driven home to Alabama by original owners. Lots of paperwork with car and shop manual. Very unique and different car and very rare.
