Needs Rescue: 1967 Saab Monte Carlo 850

The Saab Monte Carlo 850 was a special version of the 96 that was built to commemorate Saab’s victories at the 1962-1963 Monte Carlo Rallies. The Monte Carlo 850 version wasn’t a smashing sales success and about 1000 were built, all with an 841cc 2-stroke (or the 795cc “Shrike”…not entirely sure) 3-cylinder that put something in the range of 60 horsepower to the front wheels. Find this 1967 Saab Monte Carlo 850 offered for $2900 near Atlanta, GA via craigslist. Tip from Tony.

This reminds me of the car from the beginning of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
All it needs is a Caractacus Potts to make it fly….and maybe a few thousand new-fangled parts.
-Stan (who doesn’t fly in cars, anymore…)
I hope someone fixes this up. I have a soft spot for old SAABs, but not the cash.

Hmm
It certainly deserve an idealistic more money than sense person to restore this. That person is not me. Not that I’m sensible mind you.
It has v4 tags on it, so I don’t believe it is the two stroke model.
