I keep hearing crazy stories about blistering cold weather from people in places from Texas to Oregon, and how much it is impacting their day-to-day lives. Cold as hell in here in Dallas. I’m one of the lucky ones with power and gas on rolling blackouts. Our stuff isn’t built for this kind of extended and so far below freezing cold weather.

This reminds me of the first snowstorm in NYC every year when the Indian and middle eastern cab drivers were all out learning to drive in snow at the same time.
In pre ABS days I remember telling a cab driver “you can brake or steer, but not at the same time” he was so impressed with his newfound skill that he turned off the meter for the rest of the ride. In a couple of days cabs all over town were lurching around while the drivers repeatedly stomped and released the brakes.
