Mighty Brown: 1985 Mitsubishi Montero

The trick to a happy life involves some kind of balance in most of the things that you do. Exercise, eating, drinking…these are given, but what about cars? You should also balance the size of your off-road vehicle somewhere between little things like the Suzuki Samurai and giant beasts like a GMC Yukon…which is exactly what we’ve got for you here today. Find this 1985 Mitsubishi Montero offered for $6500 in Fair Oaks, CA via craigslist.

Up for sale is my 1985 Mitsubishi Montero, 2.6l, 5 speed 4×4. This was my project that I have now finished and enjoyed and it’s now time for a new owner. I got this car needing a new head, head gasket and some TLC. Brand new head, cam, and valves were purchased. A local machine shop did a great job of putting together the new head. With a Montero repair book by my side I took off the old head and installed the new head and gasket with new head bolts. The water pump has been replaced. The transmission was just fully serviced before I got it. 4×4 works just like new. This Montero really is a joy to drive, The clutch is smooth, and goes down the road well. Just passed smog, this is a super solid car and a good base to start as a crawler or a more in depth full restoration. Paint is in really great condition except for oxidation on the roof, and some dings and dents. I would like to note that there is some unfortunate rust around the front windshield that is just out of my skillset to repair. 111k miles, Clean title, and smog paperwork in hand.

Craigslist has a cap on pictures I can post. I have a google drive with many more pictures showing imperfections and other details about the car. Will send google drive as well as a Carfax upon request. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Thank you.
