Mechanic’s Dream: 1988 Jaguar XJS V12

Owning a V12 Jaguar is less about getting from A to B and more about developing a deep, committed relationship with your local mechanic—and this next XJS in Crimson Red is ready to take that journey with you. Powered by the famously complex 5.3L V12, it runs well enough to have passed smog and wears current registration through April 2026—but with a non-functioning A/C, sunroof, and e-brake, it’s already dropping hints that you’ll be seeing the shop regularly. The interior is tan and tidy, needing only “a little love” (read: time, patience, and a credit card), while the exterior sports some minor dings and scratches that add character. Find this 1988 Jaguar XJS V12 offered for $6,500 in Thousand Oaks, CA via jagbook xjsplace.

Future LS swap candidate.
Isn’t really any jag of this vintage an LS swap candidate? New owner should cut his losses :) and pre-emptively just pull the motor and put it by the curb for recycling rather than suffer the impending doom. LOL
169k miles! Very impressive. No doubt their mechanic’s children got a great college education thanks to this car.
Mmmm a kilometer of crunchy vacuum lines. Hook up a smoke leak detector and the fire department arrives…
Ok the fuel is cooled by the A/C system no A/C vapor lock will occur and leave you on the side of the road in the Jaguar salute position ie hood up friend HAD one not me
