Masterpiece Classic: 1984 Jaguar XJ6

The Series III Jaguar XJ6 is one of the legendary sports luxury sedan of the ’80s/90s that every man (or woman) who considers himself a motorhead should own some day. The highway manners were particularly noteworthy, close your eyes and you could hardly tell you were moving — something that couldn’t be said for many of the domestic offerings of the day, The US version was available the the venerable 4.2 litre Jag inline-6 that put out something in the range of 205 horsepower and 231 ft-lbs of torque — and today’s example looks great for the asking price. Find this 1984 Jaguar XJ6 offered for $7250 in Fallbrook, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

If you are an English Car aficionado, this is a rare opportunity to obtain an incredibly original, astonishingly low mile 50k Series 3 Jaguar XJ6.

Fuel Injected 4.2 Dual Overhead Cam Straight Six — Jaguar’s masterpiece in it’s most refined form. Runs silently and smoothly. Runs cool at any external temperature and flawless at speed.

Incredible history: This vehicle was specifically ordered from the factory in England for the CEO of E.F. Hutton, a noted anglophile. Delivery was taken in New York for chauffeur-driven rides from Long Island to The City. Always garaged, never used in inclement weather, dealer serviced. Upon retirement, the Jaguar was shipped to his home in La Jolla where it was used to take jaunts to the racquet club until his passing.

Services Completed: I purchased the vehicle with all historical paraphernalia from The Estate and have enjoyed the Jaguar for five years of flawless service. Completed in the last two years:

1.) Full Rear End removal and refurbishment — calipers, pads, rotors, U-Joints, bearings. (Value 4k)
2.) Full Fuel system service — new injectors, new injector lines, new Mass Air flow sensor, all new OEM Jaguar dual tank switchover valves (three.) All new fuel lines.
3.) New Tires
4.) All new suspension — performance Koni Shocks all the way ‘around (six).
5.) ALL new brakes: New calipers, pads, and all hoses. Master Cylinder rebuild, with a NEW power booster module.
6.) All engine bay perishables renewed: All coolant hoses, thermostat, block and radiator flush.
7.) Transmission fluid and filter service.

Likely much more — essentially a thorough service down to the last zerk fitting. The car is in flawless mechanical condition and can be driven anywhere with confidence.

The car is in original 1984 paint and interior. The leather has been carefully cleaned and refreshed with English hide food.

The Series 3 XJ-6’s are the best built of the Classic XJ series and the “gentleman’s club on wheels” with the hides, timber, and wool carpets are a sensory experience.

You are purchasing from a lifelong English Car aficionado and expert. Health forces sale and reduction in fleet.

This car will delight you as it has me and will be a collectible for decades to come. Includes all historical goodies as well as current registration on period-correct California Sunshine license plates.

Shown by appointment in Fallbrook.
