Manual W123 Euro Coupe: 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280C
In a world that is rapidly degenerating into a “nightmare buffet of artificially flavored, hyperpalatable, yet ultimately bare-marginally satisfying, pseudoabundance” (thanks Kaibeezy for the best description of the 21st century yet) it is nice to be able to find a car that presents itself with all of the things you need in a car and none of the things you don’t need. Umm, okay….there is some rust…that’s maybe something you don’t want, but the subtle & attractive styling, manual gearbox, unstained interior, and legendary W123 Benz durability is exactly what you need in a car for about $5k. No self driving, self braking, lane departure warnings, or tire pressure monitoring warning lights here. Find this 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280C offered for $5,300 in Salem, OR via craigslist.

This is a European model of the W123 Mercedes in a rare 4spd manual transmission. Runs and drives good, would benefit from a tune up and some regular driving (been in storage for several years), fun little car but it will need some attention. Some rust on the hood cowl and driver floor. Original Becker radio comes with it. Email first and then we can talk or text. Thanks! Car is in Salem Oregon and I have a great shipper if you need one.

I remember back then. Had to drive to work, both ways, uphill too.
Kaibeezy, pray you have not yet trademarked that gem for it’s going on a t-shirt, posthaste.
I’m XXL. Vince has my address. 😉
It’s not C280 it’s a 280CE! and a C123 chassis not W. Great cars and this was a great deal too. I had a Euro spec 280E W123 (sedan) and it had a good deal more HP (~40hp) than the US Spec cars thanks to the Europeans getting better cams and higher compression.
