Lost & Found Movie Car: 1979 AMC Pacer Woodie Wagon

I love a good classic AMC Pacer with wood sides as much as the next red blooded American, but one that was driven by Sophie Marceau in a crappy late nineties movie that she starred next to David Spade (Lost & Found, 1999)…count me triple in!! Wait…hang on, you expect me to believe that David Spade is going to woo the beautiful French girl? HAH! Next, you expect me to believe that this AMC Pacer is going to race against Steve McQueen’s Bullitt Mustang! Special effects, eh? Find this 1979 AMC Pacer Woodie Wagon offered for $3995 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

I’ve had this fabulous car for many years. I’m no mechanic, but was lucky enough to have found a great guy who kept Tenzing running well for years. This car was my daily driver and was one of a fleet of three Pacers that I had. All three Pacers represented their brand well, appearing in a few commercials, music videos and movies over the years. Tenzing’s last starring role was in the movie “Lost and Found” starring David Spade and Sophie Marceau, where he was driven by Sophie’s character in the film (see photos).
About 6 or 7 years ago, my mechanic left L.A. and about the same time, Tenzing’s differential went kaplooey. Never found another conveniently located mechanic, so he’s been parked in the garage since then. In 2019 I thought I’d found a mechanic so went to Costco and bought him a new battery and then the mechanic evaporated. And then Covid closed the world. And now I am leaving L.A., too, and need to rehome Tenzing. I figured it would be best for him to continue to reside in L.A. where it might be easier to find parts from other AMC collectors and fans and, maybe, he can continue his cinematic career. So, if you might be just the person Tenzing needs in order to get back on the road (and on the screen?), come check him out. $3,995 cash.

There has been an amazing amount of interest from people wanting to adopt Tenzing and if you aren’t already a Pacer person and are looking to find a learn-as-you-go project, okay, I guess. But not having any knowledge of AMCs and Pacer history, etc., doesn’t seem like a good match. I want to find him a new home with an owner who will appreciate the cool dude that he is and will proceed accordingly. I love that so many people dig him, but I don’t have the time to talk you through your potential future with him, lol….
P.S. If you watch the movie, Tenzing doesn’t make those funny car noises, the director had those added afterwards, lol!
