Goat In Sheep’s Clothing: 2005 Isuzu Ascender

Welcome back to another edition of Cars You’ve Never Heard About and Wonder Why You Are Hearing About Them Now. Today’s example is the finest of GM’s badge engineering; two parts legacy Japanese brand, one part 4.2 liter DOHC Inline-6 (why would they call it a Vortec?…it’s inline…strange times) and a spritz of cheap GM interior plastic…scratch that…it’s a full send heaping slather of GM plastic and faux woodgrain. I can’t imagine a single potential buyer actually WANTED that fake wood crap on the inside of a mid-sized SUV in 2005, but then I don’t known a single person who purchased one of the two Ascenders per month sold on-average from each of the nationwide Isuzu dealers. Strange times indeed. Find this 2005 Isuzu Ascender offered for $5999 from a small dealer in Sacramento, CA via cars.com.
