Giorgetto Giugiaro Designed: 1978 Isuzu 117 XC Coupé

Expect constant questions if you buy this next car. Random people at gas stations and Costco parking lots will ask you what you are driving. Don’t expect any of them to understand why it is important when you tell them it is Giorgetto Giugiaro’s seminal Japanese car design, and don’t be upset that most of them assume Isuzu only built small SUVs for the American market. The 117XC Coupe was the best looking car to come from Japan in the 1970s (sorry Z) and surprisingly cheap and rare today. Find this 1978 Isuzu 117 XC Coupé offered for $24,500 in Inverness, FL via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1978 Isuzu 117 Coupe XC, righthand drive JDM. 1.8 overhead CAM, 140 hp, 5 speed manual transmission. Known to be the first Japanese car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, Italian Designer at Ghia. For the Isuzu 117, Guigiaro found inspiration from one of his Bertone designs, the Fiat Dino Coupe. With its flowing profile, crisp edges and graceful fastback roof, the Isuzu 117 was one of the best looking Japanese cars of its time.

This sports car is a truly awesome attention getter with a very reliable fuel injected drive train. Can’t stop at a stoplight without someone inquiring about it. A true one of a kind collector classic. Great little car, even for a daily driver.

4 cylinders, manual transmission, rear wheel drive, off white exterior, blue interior (blue/gray seats)
