German, Not Germane: 1974 Opel Manta 1900

Let’s give a standing ovation to the absolute gem that is the first-gen Opel Manta (or should I say, the oh-so-posh Manta A) – a stunningly uncomplicated two-door fastback masterpiece that decided sharing a chassis and oily innards with the Opel Ascona sedan was the pinnacle of sophistication. Of course, despite being under the General Motors umbrella, this Manta character fancied itself as the quintessential European heartthrob, rocking a puny cam-in-head inline-4 cylinder engine that generously graced the rear wheels with a hint of power – because who needs more? And let’s not forget the tearjerker of a story where Opel’s valiant attempts to conquer North America were thwarted not by their own merits, but by the brilliant minds at GM who thought stuffing Opels in the dark corners of Buick dealerships was a stroke of genius, sealing their fate before they could even amaze American buyers. Oh, the tragedy! Find this 1974 Opel Manta 1900 offered for $9,200 in Green Bay, WI via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

For sale is a beautiful 1974 Buick Opel Manta1900 model. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained since new. The car has never been driven during Winter months and is RUST FREE. The odometer reads 51,300 miles. I believe it to be accurate from the amount of little to no signs of wear (but unverified). The vehicle was repainted approximately 16 years ago. The color is absolutely gorgeous (gun metal gray). The engine runs excellent and leaks nothing. The transmission is a 4-speed, and it shifts smoothly just like it should. The tires are new all the way around. The vehicle drives down the highway straight and smooth and without any shakes or rattles. The vehicle will come with extra parts that were just accumulated through the years at various car shows. The car is available for local showings. I do know a prompt and reliable transporter that can haul the car almost anywhere in the U.S. The car is located in Green Bay Wisconsin. Please email me with any questions or concerns. I’m able to store the vehicle free of charge for a couple of weeks. Thanks for your understanding and viewing.
