If you don’t remember the legend of the “Mustang up on Stoves” — let me remind you. An unknown seller put a 1969 Mustang up on top of old electric stoves/ovens for storage or display purposes. Who would do that? Probably the same person who uses frying pans for a fan shroud on a Porsche 928. This is one of those rare single overhead pan equipped Porsches. Naturally, the seller has many Porsche 928, 928S, 928GT, 928GTS in various states of merging back into mother nature. “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Some cars deserve abandonment.
Aluminum doors, wings and bonnet.
If they were in good shape, you’d have a bit of a nice treasure trove there for the used market. After that, use the engine blocks as coffee tables like they did on Top Gear.
BUT… the real story here would be if a HS automotive shop class got all of them.
And built one working 928 from them. Possible?
They could even pay for their purchase by posting progress videos on YouTube. Heck, this is the kind of story Good Morning America would carry.
Except… yeah. German cars. In ‘Murica. So, ya just never know how *that* ball is gonna bounce…
(maybe a charter school, like an IB school that specializes in international studies? Or maybe a HS in a town with a German name and German founders?)

The current owners of Stanley Marsh’s property in Amarillo (off I-40) need to buy these, put ’em all in a semi, get them out to Texas, and stick ’em in the ground at the entrance to Cadillac Ranch.
Then issue press releases:

Heck, I’d bet some crazy trucking company might even do this for free publicity… provided somebody else pays the current price ($10/gallon?) for the diesel fuel to make it happen. 1000 miles each way @ 5 mpg…200 gallons at least, so around $2000 when it’s loaded. Add another $1500 to get it there from TX (plus fast food).
