Ford V8 Powahhh! 1978 Mercedes-Benz 300CD C123

The W123 E-Class Mercedes-Benz is known for a number of attributes, but speed is not in that group. However, if you ditch the smoky old diesel mill for a domestic V8, you might find some performance. Today’s W123 (actually a C123) has been given an injection of performance enhancing drugs via a small block Ford 302 and I love it. Find this 1978 Mercedes-Benz 300CD C123 offered for $14,750 in Beverly Hills, CA via craigslist.

One of the best things is because it’s registered as a diesel it’s smog exempt.Next change the final drive to something taller than the 3.69:1
Wow, very nice. Mechanicals look well sorted (A/C and all, maybe?). MB-tex interior looks great. I bet it’s a hoot to drive.
V8 swaps with AC are true unicorns.
If your’e going to ditch the powerplant might as well go all the way and ditch the tranny. Slushbox. No bueno!
