Fits In A Shoe Box: 2000 BMW Z3 M Coupe
The Z3 M Coupe, affectionately called the clown shoe, was a hardtop version of BMW’s Z3 M Roadster. These coupes were built in limited numbers and are highly sought after by BMW fanboys, to you can expect the values to skyrocket like the E30 M3 in a few years…or not…I’m no Nostradamus. Find this 2000 BMW Z3 M Coupe offered for $17,999 located on the Cincinnati, OH craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.
The standard skinny Z3 was powered by the E36s basic selection of inline
fours and sixes, but the M Coupe got plus sized fender flares and
the powerful S52 I-6 from the M3. The US market S52 puts out 240
horsepower from its 3.2 liters and its quite a few ponies down from the
European version, but it pays dividends in reliability.

Not a terribly offensive price. Probably my most desired M-car (aside from the now unobtainable/crack pipe priced E30 M3). Probably the least compromising M car in recent history (the modern M3s are just too big and lux focused for me).
The thing going for me, should I ever decide to go pop for one, is that my wife actually LIKES them.
I'm thinking I should just empty out the driveway, and spend the proceeds on a Pantera and a Clown Shoe.
I thought these had the e46 M3 engine with 333 hp. Whatever, its funny looking but perfect.
The first couple years had the 240HP S52US, the last year got the 320HP or whatever S54.
The problem I've got is that the pretty colors – Dakar Yellow and Estoril Blue – were only sprayed on the S52US cars. The S54 cars were mostly colors I don't want to own.
Estoril was available on the S54 cars. Colors that were dropped for the S54 cars include Dakar Yellow and Evergreen. Those color coices were replaced by Laguna Seca Blue and Phoenix Yellow (my personal favorite).
Phoenix Yellow? Yeeechhh.
(sorry…)
Now I guess I've got to go look for an Estoril Blue S54 car…
You guys can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the non-M Z3 coupe had the same fender flare width, but with skinnier wheels & tires hiding under them.
Yep, you are correct. The non-Ms have different trailing arms requiring higher offset wheels which gives the visual effect that they are narrower. The panels are interchangeable though.
