Fast and Easy: 2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster

The E36/7 generation of BMW Z3 roadster might have had a passing resemblance to a Mazda Miata, but don’t assume it is a hairdresser’s car because the M version is nuts. Today’s Z3 is an M Roadster with the earlier S52 inline-6 that might only makes 240 horsepower in US spec, but these are not slow cars. Find this 2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster offered for $12,500 in Franklin, WI via blueface metamash. Tip from Kevin.

Oh mama, I went way down the rabbit hole online regarding Z3M vs Z4 a few months back and that is not a topic people have subtle feelings about. The Z3 with the angelic sky in the background that was featured on DT back on July 12 was one of the fruits of my search.
The vehicle listed here is probably a fair price in the current market. I ended up buying a pumpkin-orange ’05 Mini Cooper S convertible 6MT instead for $4.5k which puts a big, dumb smile on my big, dumb face every time I drive it.
If I was a more patient person I would have spent longer shopping the Z3/Z4 market and gone that route. As it happened I got a couple of extra months of summer driving in the Mini for 1/3 the price and that’s good enough for me. Also the Mini has rear “seats” which allows my girlfriend and I to bring my kids along on an ice cream shop run, so there’s a “shit-ton of value” there as we say up in Minnesota.

Forget the BMW, I’d like to know more about the B5 variant in the background.
