El Studemino: 1981 Chevrolet El Camino

Todays next feature combines the mechanicals of a Chevy El Camino with the front end styling from a 1950 Studebaker bulletnose and the result looks like a Looney Tunes land-speed car that learned to haul mulch. Studebaker used the bullet-nose aircraft-inspired beak in 1950–51, and it remains one of the most recognizable faces in postwar American car design. The 292 straight-6 power plant is a real curveball because the El Camino wasn’t available with an inline-6 in 1981 (it was V8s or V6 only by then) so somebody dropped an older (or truck) inline-6 into this body. It goes well with the Studebaker front end, so we will allow it. Find this 1981 Chevrolet El Camino offered for $5000 in Sequim, WA via facecamino studebarketplace. Tip from Randall.

Own a one of a kind cruiser! 1981 Chevy El Camino with a 1950 Studebaker bulletnose hood and fenders grafted on. Runs and drives but could use some TLC. Title in hand292 straight six with all the vintage speed goodies: Clifford intake, 4 barrel Edelbrock, long tube headers, split pipes, sounds great! 700R4 overdrive transmission with shift kit, shifts perfectly. 10-bolt axle, bucket seats, Camaro center console.
Needs some work on the accessory brackets, the belts squeal. Could use another coat of hotrod black, and some general finishing up. Comes with boxes of spare parts. Age of owner forces sale. $5000 or reasonable cash offer. Located in Sequim.
