E55 AMG Swap: 1998 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG

This next car almost got thrown to the bottom of DT’s email trash bin because it didn’t look like much. The wheels are too flashy, the seats are ripped, and the paint is flaking like a Texas sunburn, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a C43 with an E55 engine swap. The original 1998-2000 C43 AMG was a capable and fun with its 4.3 liter 306 horsepower V8 — but shoving the 5.4 liter V8 from the E55 AMG for 349 horsepower should be a nice upgrade without ruining the car’s character. Find this 1998 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG with 5.4 liter V8 swap offered for $7000 in Mascotte, FL via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

I am selling a rare 1998 C43 AMG Mercedes Benz. only 1500 of these vehicles made it to the USA.I Had the original 4.3-liter V8 Engine with 140k miles swapped for a 2002 E55 AMG, 5.4 V8 Engine with 60k miles in 2015. The car chassis now has around 174k miles, putting The E55 engine at around 80k miles. This conversion is known as C43/55.

Along with the engine swap, other improvements where made. Rims and tires were upgraded, exhaust system was upgraded, Shocks have been replaced all round, Steering linkage and all bushing in steering system have been replaced, Pinion seal(s) replaced, Valve cover gasket(s) replaced, and a few other components.

The engine swap, repairs, and maintenance have all been done by FS Tunning and Euro Motors in Orlando, fl. I have Carfax maintenance reports for the vehicle to dating back to 1998 when the car first rolled off the line to now with its current milage.
This car runs and drives in perfect condition. Needs paint. I am only selling this car because I’m moving across the country and can’t take it with me.

Man, this thing must be a hoot to drive. It looks like that motor just barely fits in the engine bay!
