The Mercedes-Benz 190E is an entry-level luxury car produced from 1982 to 1993. Even though it was Mercedes first attempt at the compact car market they did not skimp on the W201. This platform introduced a 5-link rear suspension subsequently used in E and C class models, front and rear anti-roll bars, anti-dive and anti-squat geometry—as well as airbags, ABS brakes and seatbelt pretensioners. Mercedes developed a 190E for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft motor sport series (DTM, German Touring Car Championship). DTM rules required the car be based on a road going model thus the 190E 2.3-16V debuted in September at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Cosworth engine was based on the M102 four cylinder 2.3-litre 8-valve short block with Cosworth developed the cylinder head. It was made from light alloy featuring dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. maximum power output of 185 hp (138 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 174 lb⋅ft (236 N⋅m) at 4,500 rpm. US spec cars had a reduced compression ratio (9.7:1 instead of 10.5:1), and were rated at 167 hp (125 kW; 169 PS) at 5,800 rpm and 162 lb⋅ft (220 N⋅m) at 4,750 rpm.

Offering for sale Mercedes 190E 2.3 16V Cosworth Automatic , 1986 Clean title , 89000 indicated miles, Runs and Drives very strong. Car have no rust , minor oxidation on the top of the roof, bonnet and trunk lead panels, rear right quarter panel has couple dents which was received after long therm storage. A lot of work was done to it , tune up – engine/transmission fluids ( filters and gasket ) , valve cover gasket, spark plugs, fuel distributor, headlights EU, rear suspension was carefully converted from SLS to regular coil springs and shock absorbers, rubber weather strips, and windshields rubbers in perfect condition. Interior, leather seats in very good shape, dashboard have no cracks on it, but central and left side vents deflectors should be replaced, few wooden panels better to replace as well. Seats and windows control switches working not stable, and needs attention to it. AC system holds vacuum and pressure, but needs to be feeling up by R12 which is not available for seller. Over all, this is a great Running example with low miles which needs a little bit TLC from new owner, refresh the paint job on the top of the car, no mechanical problems, no leaks, all manual books available, service history included. My first car was a nearly dead Pontiac Astre. I forget there were interesting models of that platform.
