Diesel Mercedes Power: 1984 Toyota Celica GT

This next car comes as a tip from Spencercat who calls it “In the hold my beer category…”. Indeed, this car qualifies for multiple WTF badges and I cannot understand where you get to the point that an OM617 diesel makes more sense than something from Toyota or a Chevy 350…but I get it. Find this 1984 Toyota Celica GT offered for $4,000 in Walnut Cove, NC via dieselface smokeymtn.

Seller’s description
1984 Toyota Celica swapped with a Mercedes om617 turbo diesel. The car is tons of fun and has been my daily driver for years. It has rust but nothing structural. The interior isn’t perfect, but pretty good for its age. Main problems it has right now is a broken intercooler and the mount from the rough idle, the tires rub at full lock and when cornering hard, and no factory fuel tank, it just has a f150 tank sitting in the trunk. I’m not dying to sell it but I have too many projects at the moment.

“The car is tons of fun and has been my daily driver for years.” Where, my fellow motorist, have you been daily-driving this beast to for years? I cannot imagine a job where I would be daily-driving this to work.
