Classy Swedish Classic: 1973 Volvo 164

The Volvo 164 (1968-1975) was a luxury spin on their venerable brick formula – they took the 144 sedan, extended the wheelbase forward of the firewall to fit a few more cylinders, and added a stately Rolls Royce-esque front styling treatment to match the upmarket engine. It may not have the panache (or power) of an aristocratic Brit, but it is one of the best looking old boxy Swedes and today’s example is crusty but cool. Find this 1973 Volvo 164 offered for $3000 in Elk Grove, CA via craigslist. From CFlo.

1973 Volvo 164 for sale, automatic.I’ve gone through the D jet fuel injection system and replaced all the hoses, all the injector rubber rings, flow tested the injectors, and tested all of the D jet sensors. The car starts, runs and shifts well. Very solid and clean car. Heater works and AC holds a charge but needs a new compressor – right now it makes more noise than cold air. Paint is OK.
Includes neat Volvo original rack and bag, and a trunk full of parts. I have other videos of driving in town and on the freeway if requested – FB only let’s me add one video. Selling because it runs well now, and I need space for the next Volvo project!
I run the car around town for the last year, including on the freeway, but it is sold as a project and priced accordingly.
