Cheapest Around: 1997 Chevrolet Corvette C5

If you’ve ever looked at a C5 Corvette and thought, “Needs less body, more chaos,” this 1997 LS1-powered drift kart might be exactly what you’re after. Originally a salvage-titled coupe, this Vette has been stripped down to its essentials and rebuilt into a raw, tire-shredding toy with a custom fiberglass rear clip, painted doors, hydraulic handbrake, and Kooks long-tube headers dumping into straight pipes. The 5.7L LS1 still fires right up and delivers plenty of torque for burnouts and sideways fun—but be advised, the automatic transmission no longer engages, making this an ideal project for those ready to swap or tinker.
