Carbonara Alfredo: 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C
The Alfa Romeo 4C was built from 2014 through 2020 as an affordable alternative to Italian supercars from Ferrari and Lamborghini. It was a superlight coupe/convertible in the style of the Lotus Elise/Exige with a carbon fiber tub with aluminum subframes. The handsome exterior was designed by Marco Tencone and Lorenzo Ramaciotti, but the engine was a 1.75 liter TBi turbocharged inline-4 that is often described by owners as “notta enoughaa torqueh or horse a power” for the sportiness of the chassis. The 4C didn’t sell many examples in the USA and it was driven out of the USA market by overzealous DOT regulations. Something about the 4C failed the Ejection Mitigation test…I dunno why you can buy a 1.3 liter superbike that goes 200 miles per hour but not a car with doors. Anyway, the 4C is a bit above the typical DT limit, but it is still less than the average price of a new car. If any of you need me to check this out and test drive it in person I will happily volunteer.
Test drive before you buy. These look amazing and drive the opposite. The engine was tuned to sound great, but do little else. The suspension was perfected for god knows what. Steering feel is best explained as unusual. Ohh and the transmission is constantly confused.

So, if I want a car that:
-is less comfortable than a Boxster
-has worse rear visibility than a Boxster
-has more steering vibration than a Boxster
-rattles my fillings on any road dips or bumps
-is slower than a Boxster
-costs more than a Boxster
-is harder to get parts for than a Boxster (which is saying something)
-will cost more to fix than a Boxster (see last comment)
…if I want all those things, is this car a good choice?
Well, yeah. I guess so.
Why not just find a Boxster and suffer through all of the better handling, acceleration, comfort, and repair costs?
