California Edition: 1974 Volvo 144

I’ll start with the positive for this car – it’s got rad wheels, a cool set of Hella fog lamps, and is that magic pre-smog model year for the Volvo 140-series. However, let’s not ignore the fact that the seller wants five large for a car that has more rust than the Titanic. Find this 1974 Volvo 144 Cali Ed offered for $5000 in Los Angeles, CA via facekjet hellaplace.

Nice coincidence! I’m in the process of preparing my own 1968 144S for sale. It’s a solid running and driving car that’s not rusty like this orange one. It has a straight body but does have cosmetic needs (paint and interior), unless you’re like me and prefer rolling with the ratty look. B18, two SUs, manual 4-speed. Stock.
I’ve owned it for eight years and use it as a (second) daily driver. Located in the Sacramento area in Northern California. Clean CA title with black plates and full records back to the beginning. It’s got just over 350K miles on it. First owner drove the majority of the miles. Reasonable and negotiable price in the same range as the orange car.
My plan is to eventually get it on DT and/or other places if it doesn’t sell locally by word of mouth first. If you’re interested, just reply here or maybe reach out to Editor Vince and we can get in contact. Prefer to sell it to a DT/Thorsday enthusiast.
Bonus points if you have the title in your own name. These ads where the seller adds an adventure at the DMV are terrible.
Yep, in my own name. Current registration too. No DMV adventures necessary.
Mega — sounds good, shoot me a few photos and details when it is ready for sale and I’ll post it up! -Ed. Vince
Will do. I’ll make sure to photograph just one side of it at a gas station at night from at least 50 feet away. ;)
