Butterscotch W110: 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190C

The Mercedes-Benz W110 Heckflosse (German for fintail) was an affordable 4-cylinder sedan built from 1961 through 1968.  It is instantly recognized by the 50’s throwback tailfins and single headlights on the end of serious pontoon fenders.  Find this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190C offered for $7,800 in Fletcher Hills, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

This butterscotch colored classic is being sold by the grandson of the original owner who appears to have inherited it after 50 years of ownership.  The strange part is when the seller says his grandpa purchased it from Germany when he was in “the war.”  What war was happening in Germany in 1962?  The Cold War is the only reasonable answer, but who knows.

This 190C is powered by a  1.9 liter 4-banger good for around 90 horsepower and shifted via a 4-speed column mounted gear lever.  It won’t be the fastest thing on the road, but it should pile up the miles with basic maintenance and look classier than anything in the same price range.
