There are extremes in the way to own and drive a used car. The first is to find the nicest example you can find and drive it hoping it doesn’t depreciate, and the opposite side of the coin is when you find the ugliest example for a cheap price. You might end up dumping the same amount of money in the ugly car by the time you’ve restored it to “nice” condition, but I think the satisfaction of knowing you’ve done something good for the world is worth the effort. Plus, I am constantly drawn to derelict cars that just need a good foster home to get them back on the road. Find this 1998 Chevrolet Corvette C5 offered for $8,000 in Sparks, NV via craigslist.

1998 Chevrolet Corvette C5
5.7L V8 345 HP!
Runs and drives but in need of some tlc. Tires could use replacing. Minor cosmetic issues as well as could use a good tune up. Borla exhaust system sounds awesome! Removable targa top. Leather seats (passenger has small tear). Bose sound system with aftermarket sub and Bluetooth phone integration. New transmission installed 8/20/18. New water pump installed in 2017. The LM5C steering column lock bypass is installed on this car. This eliminates a common problem with C5s in which the fuel system shuts off past 2 mph. This vehicle had a previous branding as salvage and now carries a rebuilt title. Car cover included!
Could make an awesome project car or use for an Ls swap! Better condition C5s often go for $15-$16k!
