Bertone Classic: 1987 Fiat X1/9

The Fiat X1/9 was not the first mid-engined sports car sold to the masses with low power and good handling, but it combined sharp angular styling (by Bertone) with a sub 2000 lb curb weight that made Porsche 914 owners green with jealousy. The little X1/9 is a slow car that is fun to drive fast and today’s example looks like a “best of the breed” example if you ask me. Find this 1987 Fiat X1/9 offered for $15,000 in Menifee, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1987 Fiat Bertone X19 Bosch Fuel Injected 1,5 Liter 4 Cylinder 5 Speed Manual. one Original registered Owner,
Garaged kept California Car, I have Never seen any Rust, No body Fillers, original Paint, Seats, carpet, Engine, Trans, Clutch,
Mostly everything is Original. (Timing belt was replaced 2017).
This was 1 of 8 Cars owned by the Original owner so it did not get driven a lot. has 40,827. Original Miles. The owner also has passed away sadly and I inherited the car from the Family. I am a retired aircraft technician / inspector and worked on Bertones and Alfa’s as a side hobby for many years during the 80’s and 90’s. I have been driving this Bertone around the Town a little bite this past year and have done some service on it. The car run Beautifully and shifts smooth.I have decided that I would keep the Car but first give it a chance in some national craigslist ads to see if someone would like to have this rare beauty. If not, I will transfer Title into my name. back fee’s registration in California would be due if you register in California as he was dying from cancer, he did not non-op the registration and causing the back fees.
If you do not live in California, your Lucky and better off than us LOL The engine runs very clean and would pass the Calif smog test. California back fee’s are about $700.

I have taken 130 pics of this Bertone. You are also welcome to come see the car or send a pre purchase technician to check it. The car is mostly all original, and the engine runs great! I installed a new aluminum radiator just because I did not like the looks of the original 35-year-old one, however it did keep the engine cool. The tires have flat spots in them from previse long sitting times in the past. they are from July 2006. Struts are strong, power windows work well, lights, turn signals brake lights, back-up lights, flip up head lights, Windshield wipers/washer, The only thing that is not currently working its horn which I’m sure is something minor I just have not had time to check that one. There is no radio, but it does have 4 speakers installed. I just do not agree listening to the radio in a car like this. No power clutch, No power brakes, No Power steering, No A/C, All original from Riverside California its whole life and always kept in Garage. Imported by: Pacific and North West imports inc. Hayward , Calif, Sold by Dealer: Fleet Co Enterprises in Ontario, Calif. Sold new on March 22, 1989.
I have DMV documents documenting Raul Casas as the Original owner since new. The Title is in his name and signed off to me. This Bertone is Titled as a Fiat. I have 2 sets of original Steel Keys, spare tire, jack with handle, wheel wrench, and lug key. I feel that if the car had new tires installed it could be driven anywhere at this time. The oil and air filter are new.
Items that I know of were replaced within the last 5 years: Brakes, Timing belt, water pump, belts, hoses, oil, oil filter, air filter, radiator, coolant, spark plugs, distributor cap/rotor, plug wires, clutch master, clutch slave. This is certainly a rare model with the Russo red, and the body kit was original to the car when sold new. The Title has a mileage discloser signed as well at 40,804 original miles. I will work with your shipper.
All the documents I have will be included with the car as well as 2 sets of keys, owners manual, bra, dash cover, and if you like you could have the original radiator which would need to be restored. Vin# ZBBBS00A9H7160819

Mmm, I’m guessing the seller is unaware of Title Jumping aka Title Skipping. It is illegal in all 50 states and a felony in many, including California.
