Banana Mobile: 1982 Toyota Tercel

The color of this next car brings back memories of a certain early 80s Toyota that I had the misfortune of riding around in many years ago. It, like this thing, was a horribly underpowered tin can that droned at idle, droned at speed, and deserved a drone strike. At least this yellow Tercel has a manual gearbox, but I’m still surprised it has avoided the warm embrace of the crusher through all these years. Find this 1982 Toyota Tercel offered for $3500 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

Incredibly charming.
I love this car dearly, breaks my heart to sell it but bought something for frequent long distance trips and don’t need 2 cars.

Runs great, clean title. These cars will go forever as long as you take care of them.
New front and rear breaks, passed smog, recently adjusted the carburetor and new catalytic converter. New fuel pump. Always regular oil changes. Has lived in a garage.
188,045 miles. Have done a couple trips in her and always did great.
Manual transmission.

That would be Light Yellow 558. It’s beautiful. It also adorns my recently acquired 1983 Toyota pickup 2WD diesel. Old cars like this are better with colors that aren’t trying to be cool. And at least with my new truck, I am not sure there is another color that is as appropriate for its 59hp.
When you read a description as endearing as this one, there’s a good chance it was well maintained.
