Affordable Aircooled: 1966 Porsche 912

The Porsche 912 (and it’s actually fun-to-drive cousin the 911) has been on a bit of a price bender as of late. In the past 12 years the Hagerty book value for a #4 “has visible flaws…runs fine, but could use…attention” has gone from a reasonable $8800 to a whopping $35,000 for a stunning 379% change in value. I wish my 401k performance was half as good as average 912. My 401k is certainly faster to 60mph…but so is a FedEx truck. Anyway, today we’ve finally found a 912 that still fits within the DT budget, and will fit within most garages, hallways, and maybe a large FedEx box. Find a quarter of a 1966 Porsche 912 offered for $12,000 in Reseda, CA via breadslice marketbook.

Outrageous price, but if you’re the owner of the other 3/4 of the car, what are you gonna do? It’s not like Porsche slices come up for sale too often. 😉
I would so want this to happen. Weld it back together but leave the massive full-length weld visible. Give the PCA a collective heart attack. I’m sure the other 3/4 of the car met the crusher years ago though. 🙁
This sale is really all about that VIN if the seller gets the asking price. If it wasn’t for the VIN, it would be expensive at about half the ask.
So nice to see one that has not had a wide body conversion.
I mean, for that kind of money I’m going to need to see some interior photos.
It’s air cooled alright……..sheesh………Had I known this sort of lunacy was afoot, I would have pieced out my oem ’70 sunroof 911 T with dealer air……….instead of selling it whole. Who knew!
No conceivable amount of buffing…
