The Ford Ranger appeared as a compact pickup truck in North America for the 1982 model year and it was an instant hit. You get all the ability to pretend you need to haul stuff around in your daily driver without the added nonsense of a 3/4 ton frame and big horsepower, yaadyy-yaddy-yay-bro-dozer. Anyway, if you want a small pickup, you should get a 2nd generation Ranger (1993-1997) and then swap in a large V8…because high power and low weight make good friends. Find this 1996 Ford Ranger offered for $4,500 in Hartland, MI via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

I have a ’96 two-wheel drive ranger with a 302 5.0 mustang engine. Has a slight cam. Five-speed transmission with a new clutch. Runs strong. Needs tires and some updating. Hood does have some damage due to somebody opening it incorrectly. It does stay shut though. Very solid build. $4,500 or best offer
