Peaches and Cream: 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver

The average man looks at the Zimmer Quicksilver the same way he’d approach a jar of Peaches and Cream Body Butter (TM)…disdain and a total lack of understanding. But not you and me, buddy. We understand. We’d love to flick this Fiero based beauty apex-to-apex through the twisty hills of Kentucky the same way we’d slather our bodies in Peaches and Cream Body Butter and run naked through forest as deer and chipmunk nibbled at our backside. Ah, that was a wonderful summer…and it wasn’t a dream, it was real…you were there and you were there…and we’ve got the scars to prove it. Find this 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver bidding for $2775 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in San Diego, CA via eBay.

From the seller:
Zimmer Quicksilver . One of only 170 manufactured by Zimmer Motor Company in Florida. Very rare. Started life on Pontiac Fiero GT chassis.so mechanical parts and interior kits are readily available. These came with a rear mounted V6 engine, but this one has been upgraded to a Chevrolet 350 V8, with automatic transmission .4 wheel disc brakes, real wire wheels. New tires and battery. New plugs and wires. If you are unfamiliar with this rare neo-classic car goggle has lots of information.
This car had been parked for years and needs TLC. Lights inside and out work properly, but one headlight has difficulty raising up. Electric windows move very slowly. Tops of door panels, dash and center console are dry and weathered. Leather seats are in very good condition, but headliner in bad and windshield in cracked. Car has original paint, but still looks respectable for its age. bumpers are straight, but chrome is weak. trying to provide a honest, accurate description . It has a clear North Carolina title, last issued in 1997. Now located and San Diego, Ca.

This amazing car starts, drives, steers and stops well. Looks like nothing else. Everybody that walks by wants to take a photo and ask about it. Had big plans to restore it to its original glory, health reasons have changed that.

This would be a baller car to roll around in. I bet you pull up to a club with a valet and this will be parked up front.
Also happens with a 94 Roadmaster Estate — ask me how I know.
Always wanted to see one of these parked next to a Lincoln Mark VII
Lincoln Mark VII wheelbase 108 inches
Zimmer Quicksilver wheelbase 119 inches
Admittedly the Mark VII is a fox platform, not the VI’s panther but still, it hurts my brain imagining it.
So it looks like I’m not the only one crazy enough to think a wild engine swap in one of those would be very amusing. I don’t know if I should feel vindicated or alarmed.
This is what happens when a Fiero humps a Riviera. If you had to blindly guess which of the 50 states this was manufactured in, wouldn’t you instantly go with Florida? Of course you would.
I still remember a Zimmer Quicksilver print ad when these were new that had people driving 2 of these, meeting by chance at an intersection. The ad had a caption something like “unlikely to ever happen” because the cars are so rare. This ad ran right around the time I started subscribing to car magazines, studying every page, so it’s burned into my brain.
This car hurts my feelings.
