Dirty Swede: 1994 Saab 900 Turbo

Normal people who own a convertible Saab and want to change the suspension would consider some lowering springs or maybe a set of Bilstein shocks. You can get more aggressive with things like anti-roll bars and wide tires (tyres if you live on the moon) but few owners would consider lifting a turbo Saab, but here we are. This next Saab Convertible has been given a 2.5 inch lift, big tires, and a groovy skid plate. Let’s go bombing off road with the top down! Find this 1994 Saab 900 Turbo offered for $5,500 in Andover, CT via craigslist. Tip from ME.

I’d be interested to see the floors. These things like to hide rust behind the undercoating, and the moment you step wrong on the floors, they become a Fred Flintstone-mobile.
Also, brand new, on-road, these had some of the worst cowl shake on any production car I’ve ever seen. They handle like a wet noodle (chassis-flex) on uneven pavement and dirt. Worse when they’re rusted out like 99% of these in New England seem to be.
I’d like to see the next owner, if they’re serious about dirt driving and the floors are up to the task, put a 6-point (or more) cage in it. Mostly to arrest the chassis flex these are perhaps infamous for, but also it’ll look cool.
Gee, I wonder why I have never seen a convertible rally car before? Seems like such a great idea! Oh, wait. Right. The whole high speeds on bumby twisting dirt roads thing. Yeah, no.
IIRC a 900 vert windshield frame *alone* will support 2x the weight of the car.
