Cadillac V8 Power: 1951 Nash Statesman

The Statesman was a full sized Nash positioned between the top-of-the-line Ambassador, but above the simple Rambler. The post-war styled Nash used advanced (for the time) unibody construction and crazy Airflyte body styling. Front skits, rear skirts, and a wrap around windshield meant this thing looked like an automotive version of those crazy mid-century Streamliner trains. Find this 1951 Nash Statesman offered for $19,999 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist.

Nice.
First time I saw Star Wars, I thought to myself. Oh look, Luke drives a Rambler.
Not a fan of the steering or the road wheels, but that’s an easy fix. Steelies on the pavement and a Nardi in the hands would make it timeless.
Just stay out of Blood’s hoods. Maybe put a Mets plate holder on it.
Perfect, save for the steering wheel.
One of the world’s strangest designs ever, if you don’t count French cars.
