Behind The Woodshed: 1958 Opel Olympia Rekord P

This next car comes as a tip from Johnny Bouncewell who writes: Wanna spend the rest of your life looking for a tail light lens? Here you go. Ooof, that hurts. As someone who has owned cars with unobtanium parts (old Saabs, old Buicks, etc) I understand this problem. For every car like the ’57 Chevy or 65 Mustang where there is an entire army of corporations pumping out replacement parts, there are about 50 makes/models that have been consigned to the scrap yards of hades. If you can’t find someone to get your double cardan CV joint for your oddball “abandoned” model…well you’re going to need to be handy with a welder or know a good Shaman. This Opel Olympia Rekord P might have sold well in Germany in 1958 and the 1.4 (or 1.5?) liter Opel engine might have decent support…good luck finding trim or interior or glass. Find this 1958 Opel Olympia Rekord P offered for $500 in Albuquerque, NM via craigslist.

Someone’s old parts car. Also, I have never seen one of these that was not in the exact shape the one is in.
Give some lowball offer if you really want it, then invest in a 3-d printer to fabricate the plasticky bits. Leno’s stable of craftsmen design and 3-d print their unobtainium pieces, then occasionally use those as models for (casting?) parts that need to be formed in metal. Perhaps you can “climb Mt. Olympia” before your genetics says it is time for final dirt nap.
What are they hiding? I don’t see any engine shots.
