White Rabbit: 1989 Acura Integra RS

This next car has me wondering just how many cars built in 1989 still have less than 65,000 miles on the their odometers?  With an average of just over 2300 miles per year, you’ve got to admit that this car has had a pampered life, but not so pampered that you wouldn’t want to drive it (like that silly 6,000 mile MX-5 that will bounce around the internet via car carriers till the end of the gasoline era). Find this 1989 Acura Integra RS offered for $6,000 in Hudsonville, MI via craigslist.  Tip from Michael.

If you ask me, and maybe you didn’t, the sweet spot for cheap daily drivers are cars from the late 80s/ early 90s with more than 50,000 miles, but less than 100,000.  They demand a small premium over an example with 200k miles, but that difference is usually a trip to a mechanic to fix something that is broken on the 200k mile version. Find something that has original paint and some enthusiast cred and it could be worth more when you sell it.

Of course an Integra RS with 64,000 miles on the odo is going to be equipped with the slushbox auto — the manual version would have been driven hard and put away wet (probably).  The blacktop D16A1 is good for around 118 horsepower and 103 ft-lbs of torque — no VTEC needed on this 16-valve classic.
