What’s So Special? 1987 Suzuki Samurai Special Edition

The first thing I thought when I saw this next car was “what is special about a Special Edition” of the Samurai? Maybe this version doesn’t roll over and commit ritual seppuku at the first sign of a bumpy road. Okay, fine. I’ll go do some research. Many, many hours later. The second generation SJ30 Samurai (which was also sold as the Katana, Santana, Sierra, Fox, and Marti Gypsy) was priced at $6200 MSRP when introduced to the USA and was so popular that it outsold the Jeep Wrangler by 2:1 in 1987. The Special Edition was a graphics package that included some stickers and color matched seat stripes, but it was limited in production. However, I can’t imagine paying more than MSRP for a used Samurai, special ed or not. Find this 1987 Suzuki Samurai Special Edition offered for $12,500 in Newnan, GA via craigslist.

Decided to sell my 1987 Suzuki Samurai. Special Edition.
Not many of these were produced. Not many left.
There were only one made per dealership in 87.
1.3, 5 speed transmission.
This is a A/C car. The A/C does not work but it is a simple system would not take much if you want A/C. Every thing is there for the AC except the compressor and dryer.
Came from an estate.
Shows 23,000 miles but could be 123,000 because it will start back over at 100K miles. Looks like a 23,000 mile Samurai..
Each dealership received one of these as a promotional item.
This one is a true survivor.
Has been in storage for the past 16 years.
The interior is a 9 out of 10.
Original carpets. Original seats.
Original radio still works.
When first started after 16 years it had oil leaks from the seals drying out.
I had the engine removed to replace all the seal and at that time it was a perfect time to rebuild the engine.
A total rebuild . New rods, pistons, rings, crank shaft, bearings, oil pump, head, alternator, starter, water pump, timing belt, fan belts, Also new clutch, pressure plate, throw out and pilot bearing,
In the past year I have installed new tires, brakes, battery, shocks, starter, alternator, and new top.
Paint all looks good and has original factory stripes.
Runs and drives smooth and straight with no issues.
Very nice rare Samurai.
