Imagine if 6-year-old-you were to put together a list of your vehicular requirements, e.g. popup headlights, T-tops, diagonal tail lights, wedge shaped body, and the ability to be two different cars. It would appear that Nissan was courting the elementary school demographic in the late 1980’s. Let’s not beat around the bush. It’s hard for DT to advocate the purchase of this particular car as it’s a Canadian Nissan with visible rust, a toasted motor and an automatic. That shouldn’t stop us from oogling at it but maybe don’t buy it unless you have another Pulsar NX hanging around without the camper shell.
Currently the engine needs to be gone through, at least according to the seller. The standard CA18 served its purpose of economical transportation but was never rad enough for the rest of the car’s glory. The turbo model got close but perhaps it makes more sense to swap in something in the SR20 family along with a 5-speed to give the lowly Pulsar performance befitting of it’s eccentric features.
Since it’s a Canadian market car, we can see that the speedometer is marked to 200 internationally-agreed-upon speed units. Readers should note that there is a bucket on the floor. Knowing what we know about T-tops, we can make some assumptions. The good news, however, is that the floors can support the weight of a bucket, seats, and whatever that is on the passenger’s chair.
