The Volkswagen Beetle was used for a number of kit-style cars over the years — but don’t think for a minute that you need to settle for some homebuilt project, because a few crazy people in Brazil built a legitimate production car using bits of old Beetles…and it doesn’t look bad at all. Find this 1981 Puma GTI offered for $12,500 via an Obscure Cars group on pumaeatyourface placemarket. Tip from John W.
From the seller:
1981 Puma GT-1 One of the rarer VW’s out there. Runs and Drives. Brakes have all been serviced. 1600cc dual carb dual intake. Clutch is really good. (4speed) all the original rims including the spare. the car was stored 30+ years before I acquired it. It’s been used but the body and interior are in really good shape. It’s been gone over. Lots of time put into it. I can’t see why it wouldn’t pass a safety. But I’m not a mechanic. Serious inquiries only. 7053518822. Located in Maxwell. Low ball offers will ignored. $12950 any questions would gladly answer. Thanks for your time
Never seen one of these with a whale tail, I dig it.
the Whale Tail ruins it IMHO
Also, this seems like a decent alternative if you’ve missed out on the air cooled Porsche boat.
